HAUTE COUTURE Dior as of three seasons ago is one of the hottest most sought after label on Fashion planet. Thanks to Raf Simons. For Fall Couture it’s all about simplicity of cut and of detail. The new look was revisited, full, in bloom with lots of couture workmanship. In the world of Couture, it’s all about the amount of hours a sample takes to be made, by hand of course, including embroidery. For 2 years I assisted Christian Lacroix in the Couture atelier designing evening dresses, which in Couture is the Flou Atelier. Therefore I am aware of what goes into a Couture collection. As I stated before, Designers are attempting to make couture approachable to the masses. T-shirts, Jeans, sneakers and sandals are now Couture staples alongside embroidered evening dresses and hand tailored jackets. Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal is based on found objects sourced at flea markets and thrift shops worldwide. His version of Couture resembles his own ready to wear collection. The house of Elsa Schiaparelli makes its second season debut, first with Christian lacroix and now with Marco Zannini. Apparently, Mr. Zannini lacks an apparent knowledge of Haute Couture of today, a modern version that has been slowly gaining momentum with designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Raf Simons and Martin Margiela. Zanninis Take on Couture was more costumey than wearable. Gianbattsta Valli is a new comer to Haute Couture but his collection clearly represents couture workmanship. Vallis Haute Couture Collections can be ordered through Saks Fifth Avenue, Chicago. Bouchra Jarar, a new comer to couture and is a prime example of Couture being simply beautiful clothes that are made by hand which is a viable product and not a dream. Viktor and Rolfs Couture collection is an Art project that sells Perfume and helps educate the masses about the world of Viktor and Rolf. The duo also makes a beautiful couture clothes that works in the real world. Paris is the only outpost for Haute Couture. Italy had its Alta Moda which is now defunct. Valentino, the Roman Couture house currently shows in Paris, both Haute Couture and Ready to Wear. This makes Paris the Fashion capital of the world.
