A look for the Fall 19 Thebe Magugu collection.
WELCOME TO THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE, THE BLACK ISSUE. The final of the sixth Edition of the LVMH prize for young fashion designers took place on September 4, 2019 at the fondation Louis Vuitton, in the presence of five artistic directors from houses of the LVMH group – Kris Van Asche (Berluti), Maria Grazia Chiuri (Dior), Nicholas Ghesquiere (Louis Vuitton), and Claire Waight Keller (Givenchy) .The jury selected the winner of the sixth edition of the LVMH prize among the eight finalist :Thebe Magugu . Thebe Magugu, 26, South African, Based in Johannesburg, will receive a €300,000 Grant and enjoy one year mentoring program provided by a dedicated LVMH team. We must say that it is the first time that an African candidate has won the prize. He is the youngest designer of the 2019 selection, his creative work appropriate the codes of menswear and womenswear, of the traditional and experimental, playing with volumes and traditional South African know how.
