ICONIC, STUNNING STYLE AT EVERY AGE!!
WELCOME TO THE OCTOBER ISSUE! In the wee hours of a mid-September night, I couldn’t sleep to save my life. In this situation, I normally begin to write my thoughts.
I began surfing Instagram and landed on the handle of a dear friend, Liza Cruzat Brooks. I was touched by how positive her feed was. It was all about her family and her 91 year old mother, still a yoga-loving diva. I was instantly inspired, and I decided right then on the October issue, “AGE DEFYING.” I called Liza the following day and Liza and her mother, Millie, agreed to shoot for the “AGE DEFYING ISSUE”.
In a situation like this, I normally wander the floors of my favorite stores to choose the absolute best that’s age appropriate but packs a fashion punch! Of course, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Blake were my choices.
I chose a Rosetta Getty cashmere pullover, a Carolina Herrera silk ball skirt with a train, and Calvin Klein 205W39NYC in collaboration with Looney Tunes, Road Runner pullover sweater because of its youthful energy.
I also came across this felt hat that states, “ICONIC!” I thought it was quite ICONIC indeed. Millie Cruzat is sort of like that, full of energy and always has something to say; she inspired the entire crew. It was an amazing experience to photograph a woman with history, a woman with her own opinions on what fashion and style is.

Next up, we shot a young girl of 16 who I think we’ll be seeing a lot of very soon. She has an interesting face and, in this industry, that’s what counts. We dressed her in one of my customary looks of prints and patterns styled youthfully but artistically. Thanks to the fantastic work of our photographers and a hair and makeup team who really got this look.
