WHAT WE LOVE RIGHT NOW! JOSE PINAL SCULPTURE !
WELCOME TO STUDIO TMS/TWOMUCHSTYLE. In today’s post, I’ll share my love affair with a sculpture of an indigenous girl by the esteemed Mexican artist José Pinal. We purchased this stunning sculpture from an African dealer who purchased it in a small town in Mississippi. How it got there, God knows. José Pinal (1913-1971), Guadalajara, México. He is sometimes referred to as the Mexican Picasso for his exaggerated, expressive works in wood. He presented a series of works at the World’s Fair in 1939 for the Mexican pavilion. This piece stands 21 inches tall and 15 inches at its widest point and dates to approximately 1950. It’s priced at $3,500.
